UCSF NIH National Center for Translational Research in Reproduction and Infertility (NCTRI)
Core B. Education/Outreach
Core B is the principal resource in our NCTRI Center for educational and research opportunities for trainees and for increasing awareness among the lay public about reproductive immunology and inflammatory disorders in women that contribute to infertility and poor pregnancy outcomes. Ongoing innovative basic and translational research in our NCTRI laboratories is showcased on our website. In this context, the core supports scientists interested in careers in research in the reproductive sciences by providing support for trainees to attend the Frontiers in Reproduction summer research course at Woods Hole. Moreover, the core distributes to NCTRI trainees, faculty, and staff weblinks for online learning, including the weekly national Uterine Workshop, the joint UCSF Stanford Women’s Health monthly journal club, the UCSF Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility bi-weekly journal club, the Stanford Preterm Birth weekly research meeting, as well as the journal clubs, seminars and retreats of the relevant programs (Developmental and Stem Cell Biology and Biomedical Sciences). The inflammatory disorders of polycystic ovarian syndrome and endometriosis are highlighted for patients and providers via social media posts, webinars, and patient information, partnering with our clinical colleagues and expanding existing networks. To further enhance our goal of outreach to the community about reproduction and infertility, we co-host a booth with the UCSF Center for Reproductive Sciences in the San Francisco Bay Area Science festival and disseminate information via our website, social media, and cross-NCTRI interactions.
