Area of expertise: uterine biology and genomics, mechanisms of steroid hormone action and roles of immune cells in endometrium and early pregnancy decidua

Carlos Simón, MD, PhD

Professor, University of Valencia, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Adjunct Professor at BIDMC Harvard University, Co-President & Founder at the Carlos Simon Foundation for Research in Women's Health

Area of expertise: His main clinical and scientific interest focuses on understanding human embryonic implantation, a critical process to the survival of the species, by considering the embryo, the maternal endometrium, and their cross-communication as crucial elements.

Assistant Professor, Division of Immunobiology, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

Area of expertise: Elucidating interactions between trophoblasts and maternal immune cells to establish maternal-fetal tolerance and immunity to infection and abnormalities contributing to pregnancy complications.
